For her 2021 exhibition Mischief Makers 2, Joan Baez painted this portrait of Kamala Harris, as she became inaugurated as Vice President. In the catalog, Joan noted, “Kamala, you have reintroduced the concept of what should have long been a constant in our lives: The beloved community. What a joy to see your face as you cheerfully bring compassion and empathy, decency, and bravery - the virtues which should define us as a people - back into our discourse and our lives.”
Joan now releases a special edition of prints of the portrait entitled Kamala Harris: Change Gonna Come. The print celebrates Harris and her mission, as she embarks on a historic campaign for President of the United States.
Of the piece, Baez shares, “This is a ‘Yes We Can’ moment for anyone who believes in transformation. VOTE BLUE.”
